A Little Riding The Waves Information
When it comes to sailing, riding the waves is, in my humble opinion, the best way to sail. Being wing and wing, having the main out to one side and the foresail out to the other side and the wind coming right from behind, it's heavenly. If the waves aren't too big that is. When the waves start to get larger, you start to surf and that can be fun but it starts to take a little more concentration to keep the boat on track. The boat can slew a little to one side and then you run the risk of the boom moving from one side of the boat to the other.
Doesn't sound like too much of a problem except that boom, loaded up with a bunch of sail area, can come across like a freight train. If you happen to be in the way, especially if your head happens to be in the way, it's lights out! You'd be lucky if you only got knocked out and not knocked over the side. But I digress. On those wonderful days when the wind is just right and the seas are just right and the temperature is just right, you can lay out in the cockpit and sail along like you don't have a care in the world. Riding the waves is a wonderful way to go!
