Nautical Notecards
Send those good feelings to friends and family. By renowned watercolor artist Glenn C. Matthews from Victoria, British Columbia.
This card "Grumman Mallard", shows a piece of aviation history depicting a Mallard amphibian on approach into Ocean Falls, British Columbia.
There's a story about a doctor who had seen an ad in a paper looking for a doctor for remote locations. He asked "Where's Ocean Falls?" The reply was, "It's in British Columbia". He asked, "Does it snow in British Columbia?" The reply, "No, it doesn't snow in British Columbia." He then approached the local Postal clerk, "Where is Ocean Falls?" to which the clerk replied, "I don't know!" He said, "Don't you have a list of all the towns and villages in Canada?" "Yes." "Well, Look it up!" It wasn't there! He asked, "If I wrote a letter to Ocean Falls, would it get there?" "Yeah, I think so!"
Airplanes like the Grumman Mallard were often the only way in and out of some of the small coastal communities except by way of boats. Boats were slow and if you needed supplies fast, the Mallard was a lifesaver. Or, if you needed to save a life, then the Mallard was often your best bet.
Each card is an accurate representation of a Glenn Matthews original painting. These prints are individually signed by the artist. Highly suitable for framing.
