About the artist:

Glenn C. Matthews was born in the seafaring town of Victoria, British Columbia. He began his career in the early '70s painting in oil and watercolor by telling visual stories of ships and the sea. Numerous trips to Hawaii established him as a member of the Lahaina Art Society and from there his paintings fanned out all over the world.

After some years, Glenn extended his choice of subject matter but has always concentrated on careful drawing, close attention to values (the contrasting lights and darks) and a bold approach to color.

This card shows the boat, "Long Gone". The "Long Gone" is long gone now. A lifetime spent at sea comes to a close due to the effects of time and the harsh nautical environment. Shortly after the painting was completed, this graceful boat disappeared from the scene.
