About the artist:

Glenn C. Matthews was born in the seafaring town of Victoria, British Columbia. He began his career in the early '70s painting in oil and watercolor by telling visual stories of ships and the sea. Numerous trips to Hawaii established him as a member of the Lahaina Art Society and from there his paintings fanned out all over the world.

After some years, Glenn extended his choice of subject matter but has always concentrated on careful drawing, close attention to values (the contrasting lights and darks) and a bold approach to color.

Nautical Notecards

Send those good feelings to friends and family. By renowned watercolor artist Glenn C. Matthews from Victoria, British Columbia.

This card is simply a bunch of Daisies. They are simple shapes to draw but a delight to paint. But more than that, and here's the nautical relationship, I remember when I moved my 37 foot sailboat from the shop where I built the hull, to the shipyard, I was feeling overwhelmed with the job at hand. Right behind where my boat was placed in the yard, was a sparse little garden patch that some previous shipyard inhabitant had lovingly tended. In that little patch of garden, when I was thinking I might never finish building my boat, grew a little bunch of Daisies. Those hardy flowers seemed to say "Keep working! Nothing can stop you!" They were inspirational. I did finish that boat and I really like this nautical notecard.

Each card is an accurate representation of a Glenn Matthews original painting. These prints are individually signed by the artist. Highly suitable for framing.
