A Mini Rowboat Story
I remember many days when I would get up early and go fishing in my small rowboat much like the mini rowboat shown here. If the tide was right, I could get a "ride" with the tide and not have to work too hard to get out to where the fishing was good.
I especially liked the early morning summer fishing. Who wouldn't? The air was as fresh as it could be. The boat was covered in dew and needed to be toweled down. The process of getting ready seemed rather ritualistic and I could imagine that fisherman from the past had done just the same thing as I. Getting the fishing gear ready and placed safely and at hand. The thermos of coffee, the pack of sandwiches.
Then, off we went for who knows what adventure. The sun slowly coming up and taking the chill off the day. The seabirds swirling and calling out where the good fishing was. The ocean was moving, alive with hope and mystery. All mine.
God I miss those days!
