A Little Dickens Desk Information
Charles Dickens was not only a famous writer known for his proliferous production, he was also an enthusiastic traveler. Working late into the night, even when on tour, he insisted on bringing his own writing desk along. Stating that he could only work in familiar surroundings the desk went everywhere he went. Dickens was known to be somewhat superstitious and his writing desk was considered his inspiration and good luck charm; a cure for the dreaded "writers block".
It was at this desk that his prose flowed from quill to immortal page. It was where he organized his daily schedule and kept up with busy correspondence. A special leather case was designed to hold the legs, top and riser in separate sections. Porters were personally instructed by Dickens to unload and assemble the desk even before his personal luggage.
While the Dickens Desk is a reflection of the grace and style of the Victorian era, it also brings the vision and passion of Dickens to your own home.
