A Little British Country Tray Information
The British Country Tray, done in Colonial style. What is the Colonial Style? Well, early settlers in America brought with them decoration ideas from the countries that they immigrated from and their furniture reflected the lifestyle of the times: simple, practical and honest.
Rustic furniture, simple timber paneling, no clutter, plain unadorned walls and natural earthy colours are the distinguishable decoration features of the American Colonial Style.
The British "Neat and Plain" style, characterized by clean lines, classical proportions and restrained ornamentation proved popular in the 18th century. Other furniture influences came from Philadelphia cabinetmakers and German immigrants with their preference for florid Baroque design and precise, workmanlike construction.
Call it anything you like. My eye tells me it's happy when it sees the clean, simple but elegant lines and construction of the British Country Tray. The deep, rich, polished mahogany wood of this beautiful table would be a splendid point of attention in any home.
