A Little 1930's Classic Yacht Information
What needs to be said about the classic lines of this model? If you have ever sailed, especially in a boat of this type, you will recognize the comfortable cruisability (is that a word?) of this boat. With the long straight keel, for good directional stability and the drop keel for a shallow draft, this is the perfect boat for a pleasant cruise.
This kind of classic yacht has long been popular in Great Britain where tidal ranges are much more extreme than here in North America. This kind of boat is much better suited for the very low tide where you might be sitting on the bottom for a while. With the fin keel that is more typical of the cruiser of today, when the tide goes out, you had best be moored at a wharf where there is still some water under the keel.
If you have seen a fin keel boat that has run aground on a high tide, you will know that the occupants pretty much have to put life on hold until they can get back in the water. Meanwhile, our classic yacht owners are sitting in their cozy cabin pouring a nice cup of tea instead of pouring over the tide tables!
